Privacy Masks That Still Leave Insight
Replay without privacy discipline is a risk. Over-masking every input, though, turns recordings into abstract blobs that teach you nothing about form friction. The workable middle is a mask map: identify fields that hold identity, payment, or health data, and leave layout, labels, and non-sensitive controls visible.
Document the map next to your event dictionary. Review it when you ship a new form. Train anyone who opens the replay library on what they may and may not quote in tickets or Slack.
Good masks protect people and still let insight labs spot rage clicks, dead zones, and confusing validation — the behaviours that move conversion without exposing personal details.
